What began as a retirement hobby for owner Juan Leyva has grown into one of South Bend’s go-to spots for authentic Mexican street food. Junbuggies was built on the recipes of his mother and grandmother in Nuevo Laredo, blending tradition with the energy of a modern food truck.

Our story is just getting started.

A new two-story Junbuggies restaurant is underway, complete with a permanently parked food truck, event space and plenty of room for family and friends. Until then, you’ll still find us cooking late into the night, serving tacos curbside and bringing people together over food.

Authenticity in Every Bite

Our food reflects Norteño cuisine from northern Mexico, with traditional spice blends and salsas made fresh daily. We source vegetables locally from Costanza Farms in Berrien Springs and partner with trusted providers to keep quality high.

From Food Truck to Community Staple​

Junbuggies started with a single food truck, serving tacos to Notre Dame students late at night. Word spread quickly. Today, we’re still on wheels, but we’ve also expanded to carryout service and large-scale catering, feeding campus, locals and visitors across the city.
